My Pioneer DVR-320 seems to be capturing (DVD-VR mode) at 544x480 resolution at the 2hr 10min recording time level. TMPGEnc DVD author is complaining that the resolution isn't DVD complient. What's the deal? Do I really need to re-encode it? That's kind of a pain in the ass... Should I try again in DVD-Video mode? Will that solve the problem?
Thanks!

I have recorded to 544x480 Rez alot.
I use DVDPatcher to fool TMPGEnc DVD author into thinking
it has a DVD compliant vid.
(I patch them to 720x480 Rez.)
Just don`t forget to repatch back to 544x480 the resultant Mpeg2 movie files
(within the TMPGEnc DVD author generated VOB files)
It may take a little experimenting with your 544x480 Rez vids, but
I know it works.
Happy Holidays and Good Luck!

VR mode is not DVD-Video compliant.

vico1, if I patch the files and fool TMPGEnc DVD Author, will some standalone dvd players have problems playing the video? If so, I'd rather just re-record in DVD-Video mode (which seems like it should record with a compliant res).

Yes, patching will be equally as problematic.
DVD-Video is compliant, and is the best choice.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
