  1. I'm doing fairly well making some DVDs using the "individual applications" method - seperate software for each step. I have no problems (right now) with what I'm using (TMPGenc is my encoder). However, for quick projects I don't want to do all that and just want a "decent quality" end product from my DV (camcorder) sourse and some jpg photos mixed in and a soundtrack.

I have some "all-in-one" converters I'm experimenting with (D.I.K.O., WinAVI,DVDSanta) but I'm wondering how these compare to the encoding quality I'd get in a mid-priced Capture to End product software like Pinacle 9, Ulead, or the Sony product (can't think of the name - Vegas light type thing)? Are the encoders in these types of products the same level as the "all-in-ones" mentioned? For the VCD, how do these compare to Wndow Movie Maker 2 (as far as I know, it can't do DVD without a seperat encoder)?

Thanks as always. Thanks to many of you, I've made some cool DVDs for my kids to watch when Santa brings a DVD player/recorder on Saturday. Of course, the kids are the stars of the DVDs so they'd think it was great no matter what the quality!

Try the free VSO Software DivXtoDVD. It'll convert almost All source file formats. It's super fast. I've really been impressed by this product.
