I'm reading Tom Clancy's Red Rabbit and came across this masterpiece, figured I'd share it with my Comrades.... lot of KGB in this one.

Outside the succession of women's stores, Oleg just stood around and smoked his cigarettes like any other man in the world, intensely bored by the details of women's shopping. How could they enjoy the process of picking and comparing, picking and comparing, never making a decision, just sucking in the ambience of being surrounded by things they couldn't wear and didn't really like? They always took the dress and held it up to their necks and looked in a mirror and decided nyet, not this one. On and on and on, past the sunset and into the night, as though their very souls depended on it. Oleg had learned patience with his current life-threatening adventure, but one thing he'd never learned, and never expected to learn, was how to watch a woman shop... without wishing to throttle her. Just standing there like a ******* dumb beast of burden, holding the things she finally decided to purchase-then waiting while she decided to change her mind or not.
I know exactly how Oleg feels........

  2. "Department stores are establishments largely devoted to women, with token men's sections that allow them to legitimize their use of the term 'department'. Fortunately, they tend to offer benches, or the odd chair, upon which men, who've been dragged into these labyrinths, may sit while their female companions fuss interminably over various superfluous items of adornment, for which they'll pay a princely sum".

One has DTS and the other is only DD?? Only diff I could see. Heck, I'd get the $10 one anyhow since it has both and is cheaper.

in the title of each one in my post.... the first one says DTS at the end of the title. I have seen DVD's titled that way over at Best Buy when the DTS was added after the original release of the film. Chances are that the original film never had a DTS soundtrack to begin with, so I don't know how different it would sound with a 'manufactured' DTS track....

  7. I would figure that the DTS is the newer one. Odd it's newer yet, cheaper.

NOTE - Jurassic Park was the first DTS release in the theaters - 1993??? I believe HRO was in 1990 so it would be an "enhanced" DTS ie not original. BUT Dolby Digital wasn't until 1992 (batman Returns was first Dolby Digital release) so ALL movies before 1992 have an "ENHANCED" DOLBY DIGITAL track

Star Wars is different since it was digitally remixed in the Special Edition 1997 release :P But Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is a "post release Digital remix" which still sounds AWESOME so I would believe a DTS remix would be quite good as well

I know... I just assumed the DTS was newer without looking at the release date. Guess I should have.

I am one of those people that don't really care..... Besides most threads in OT rarely stay on topic for more than a few replys anyway. Happy Threadjacking! Guess there's really not more to reply to anyway besides, Yes I am Oleg and I want to kill her.
