What are you favorite Holiday Decorations?
Putting up the tree last weekend, I realized just how eclectic our Holiday decorations are. We have:

    13 Star Trek Ornaments
Various ornaments our son picked out including Elmo, Buzz Lightyear, tractors
    A singing Christmas tree
    A Winnie the Pooh Menorah

And our newest decoration is the singing and dancing Homer Santa.

So what decorations does everyone else have?

We have lots of Star Trek ornaments as well. All the magic ornaments and a select few of the individual figures.

We got a custom Disney ornament while at WDW this year. It has our names and "2004" hand written across it with an unusual overall structure. While we usually get a Christmas ornament while travelling, this is the first time we've gotten one personalized.

I have a few hand crafted ornaments that my mom or I made when I was a youth, so those are always special. They are definitely quite beautiful and elicit compliments and "where did you get those?" type comments.
Our sons have been into sports from the time they were born it seems. Every year my wife takes them to the Hallmark store where they each pick out an ornament. They always choose a sports figure, mostly basketball players. People visiting our house might assume we're racist based upon all the black people hanging from the branches of our Christmas tree.
I have all but 10 or so of every Star Trek and Star Wars ornament issued by Hallmark since '91. I even have two of the '91 Enterprise.(great )

However, it's almost a chore to put them up now. It takes forever! Each year I tell my wife I'm not putting them up but she insists, even though she doesn't like Star Wars and hardly likes any Trek.
The Trek ornaments are a labor of love since you have to swap bulbs in the light strand. I also have a hand embroidered Star Trek quilt and have thought about ringing it with a string of lights with all the Trek ornaments. If I had a dedicated strand of lights for the Trek ornaments, it would be somewhat easier putting them up and taking them down. Unfortunately, they'd probably get tangled putting them away like that.

The list is too long to go into. It would need a dedicated forum.

I can't imagine passing over the classic christmas tree ornaments to decorate the tree with sci fi ornaments. These are the same people who collect Beenie Babies (because they think they are valuable) and sleep on Winnie The Pooh sheets. So next time you are pondering using that old Stormtrooper helmet as a tree topper, or that Darth Vader cape as a tree skirt while you sip hot cocoa (with Star Trek marshmallows) from your Buck Rogers coffee mug... consider this... suicide claims the lives of thousands of people every year... everyone will understand.

    Good bloody question.
