In the new year I hope to build a quad core PC with 4 GB ram, and purchase the BlackMagic Design Intensity Pro card. However, since it doesn't have on-board MPEG-2, would it be possible to use the HDMI or component inputs on the the Intensity with a MPEG-2 real-time software encoder? I'd rather not use the Blackmagic's Online JPEG software codec that comes with the card. If it is possible, can someone recommend the software I could use? I'm not looking to capture at 1080p, just 480p will be nice.
(I figure I can't go wrong spending money upgrading my PC. If a better capture card comes out, at least I'll still have my souped up PC.)
