I need to capture a bunch of video segments from my Hi-8 analog camcorder, edit them (adding titles, transitions, etc.) and write them out to a SVCD.
I understand that the best way to do this is to capture the segments using VirtualDub, convert them to mepg2 using TMPGEnc, and write them to the CD-R using Nero in SVCD format.
When is the best time to do my editing? I am talking about adding titles, cutting out unwanted frames, adding transitions between scenes, etc. Should I do this after the capture (or course) and before the encoding into mpeg2? In essence I was considering using VideoStudio 5.0 to get one big avi file and then encode.
This sounds like the right way to do it, but isn't it cumbersome editing this huge file?
When in the workflow is the best place to do my editing?
Thanks
Steven
