  1. Hello...
I am looking for the best inkjet printable (preferrably to the hub) media to use for my Pioneer DVR 108. I have been having loads of problems lately with the ProDisc (both 4x and 8x). SO, I am looking to change brands.

Any feedback is deeply appreciated. If you can tell me what you use and where to get the best prices online for them it would be awesome!

    Take care.

    My suggestions:
    -R: TYG02 (Taiyo Yuden)
    +R: MCC 003 (Verbatim)
You cannot go wrong with these and your 108

  3. Thanks!! How about the Taiyo 8X media?
    Manuf. #s DVD-R47WPP600SK or DVD-R47WPYSB8

If not, where would you recommend I buy these blanks at the cheapest price?

I do not know about these codes
IMO, they look like retailer's code.

    BTW, TYG02 is Taiyo 8x.

If you are in the US, it seems that Rima is very good.

I also have a 108 and I highly recommned the Taiyo Yudens. They may be a little more expensive, but the quality is the best and you'll save yourself alot of headaches in the long run.

I used Riteks for awhile and now I'm having to redo movies I created on them as I'm having freezing/stuttering problems. All in the name of saving a few pennies.

Go for the TYs - you won't be sorry.

  7. I bought a 50pk of optodisc 8x from newegg.com for $20.50 shipped. They look awesome printed with the Epson R200. I am burning them with the pioneer dvr-108 with no problems. The only problem that I have encountered, if you want to call it a problem, is that they will only burn at 4x on my external NEC drive.

  8. They are also Hub Printable.

  10. I ordered a 50 pk of Sonic 8x dvd-r's (hub printable) from Shop 4 Tech a couple of days ago for $19.50 with free shipping. I will keep you informed on how "good" they are. I put good in " " marks, because I don't run anything like Kprobe on my dvds. If I am able to burn a dvd, then watch it without any problems--I'm happy and that's "good media" in my book.

  11. Just an update. I received these (Sonic 8x printables) the other day. Have burnt around 5 to 10 so far. The media code is TYG02. Max burn speed on my external NEC is 12x, although I haven't burnt any above 8x. So far, media is great--no coasters.

  12. where did you get those TYs as Sonics? Id like to buy them. They are rebadged TYs that are probably dirt cheap!

  13. I bought them from Shop4Tech.com. They were $19.50 for two 25pks. I just recently ordered some more. A 100 pk for $31 with free shipping.

  14. They're not REAL TY media, just so you know. Don't buy them if you're expecting them to actually be purchasing TY media, it's only a fake media code, nothing more. That's not to say that they won't burn OK, just that they're NOT TY media.

  15. Well, who makes them? According to Shop4Tech they are made by 121. Nero shows them as being TY02 media, some say they are fake. Shop4Tech sells them under the Sonic name. Either way they burn perfect and print well. No coasters. Around Thirty cents each shipped, great deal whoever makes them!!!

My 108 loves these fake TY's too and the prints look great from my Epson I don't use kprobe either. I use decrypter to burn and verify (usually DVD Shrink to shrink first), then just watch them from beginning to end. Although, I would take real TY's over these anyday, just got duped (supposedly) this time around. Ordered 100 because they were such a good deal, still got about 50 left.

If you're in the US, and have a Best Buy close to you, they have the Fuji 8x +R and -R on sale this week for $19.95 for qty 50. Just make sure it says "Made in Japan" on the label.
