I know someone will invariably say "use VirtualDub" without reading my story first, but please read on as I believe this to be not your average audio synch problem...
I'm ripping from vhs tapes to an mpeg-2 (352x480) file. I want to put my old wrestling ppv's (2 1/2 to 3 hours each) onto dvd. The resulting mpg file is fine, in perfect a/v synch all the way through.
When I author it into a dvd with TMPGEnc DVD Author, that's where I have a problem. The audio is in perfect synch with the video in the beginning, but loses more and more synch as the dvd goes on...maybe 2 seconds off at the 1 hour mark, and a definite 7 or 8 seconds by the end. Its like the audio loses momentum as the dvd plays (I'll see it, then hear it later).
Anyone had something like this?

There's no such things as "ripping tv".
The term is "capture".
Sounds like the a/v stream is corrupted and dies at demux. All authoring programs demux and then remux into VOB.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Scan in it PVAStrumento and see if anything is broken.
VideoRedo is also rumored to be able to fix corrupts MPEGs, so cut a second or two off the beginning and end, and then save a new file.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Yep, I'm getting lots of "video frames missing" from scanning it with PVAStrumento (thanks for the tip on that, btw)...
So what I'm gathering from the help file is that I can now demux it safely, make it a PS, and then it should be ready for dvd authoring?-Chauncey
