any ideas??

last week running my defrg (vopt) in safe mode it locked up. i restrarted and let things be. later i found if i let the pc sitt for more than about 30 mins without doing anything the screen locked up.

what i mean is i can open a program but cannot scroll down. when i try the screen shakes and when i release the click, the screen returns to the top. i can "fix" the condition by restarting. any ideas on what might be causing and what the easy fix might be?

i can limp through for now. i'm in the middle of a video project for my daughter and don't want to format until that's completed. i'm on dial-up at 10kb's download.

win2000pro sp4 all the updates, pc specs are current on the list

Run a virus scan if you can.

You probably need an updated video driver.
