  1. I am using DVD Shrink, version 3.2.0.15, to try to back up my DVD of the first season of "The Office."

I am unable to make it fit on a single layer 4.7 GB disc. When I choose custom ratio, it won't let me go any lower than it currently is at in Automatic mode. There aren't any extras to remove to make it smaller, nor any audio tracks to remove.

I read somebody's suggestion for another similar case in the forums to use DVD Decrypter to decrypt the contents of the disc to my hard drive and then try using DVD Shrink to compress it enough to fit. Still no luck.

Any other suggestions on how to back this disc up?

    Thanks.

  2. Make sure you set the correct DVD size in options. It might be set for a DVD-9, make sure its on the DVD-5 (approximately 4400 mb) setting.

  3. Yes, I have that set correctly - I get a warning when I try to back it up saying it's too big to fit on a DVD-5.

Basically, I can't set the compression ratio low enough. I didn't find anything while searching the forums, but I found something going through the forums manually today.

I'm going to try to back up the DVD files to my hard drive, and then use DVD Shrink to open the backed up files and see if it will let me compress those files a little bit.

Maybe that'll work. No reason you couldn't run DVDShrink on it twice

I had that when I backed up my Office season 1 disc also. I think I just ran it through DVDShrink a couple of times, until it fit. YMMV though.

The other way is to split to two discs. This guide might be of some use to you.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. I prefer to have it on a single disc, and it worked great by running the output files through DVD Shrink a 2nd time.

During the 2nd pass, I only had to set the compression at 94% or so and that extra little bit made all the difference.

    Glad to hear it worked
