I am getting a Sony DCRTRV265E Digital 8 Camcorder for Xmas and I read the manual after just seeing whether it would work. The manual said it sends the date and time information ( which you set the first time you turn the camera on ) is sent straight to the tape (digital 8). Does this mean when I transfer it to the computer, the date and time information will be recorded onto the footage? I want to film home movies and can't do that if there is a large date and time on the image. it isn't on the actual camera screen except for a few seconds when you turn it on.
I really hope it isn't recorded onto the footage but I would need to know before Xmas.

No worries. It doesn't show in the video unless you ask it to. The date and time stamp are in the file data field (aka: "metadata") As for preserving the date stamp during editing, that is another question. Feel free to ask.
