    Read this pile:
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1722122,00.asp

After receiving more than 100 letters from PC Magazine readers, I can only conclude that DVD authoring on PCs is a mess.....

    My response:
If they would quit using crap to author with, that might help.

    TMPGEnc DVD Author **
    Roxio Easy Media Creator
    Ulead DVD Movie Factory
    Nero 6
    Pinnacle Studio 8
    Pinnacle Liquid Edition
    Sonic MyDVD

... for the most part, all of this is software known to have bugs and all sorts of other problems. Most of it is severely limited in options. Newbieware if ever any existed.

** TDA's only redeeming value is it's easy and not picky. Nice for converting VCD to DVD, too (fast and easy). Those other really don't have much redeeming value. It has a huge list of flaws, especially the burning engine.

Several readers recommended DVD-lab. One, Tom Cantarine, abandoned his suite of Adobe products for DVD-lab but noted that you have to prerender all of your video in MPEG-2 before you can use it. Sigh.
... what a dork. Duh! Get off your lazy duff and do video step by step, as it was always intended. That what pros do, and for good reason. I want to slap people like this. "Render" is not a word for video, much less "prerender". Clueless writer.

This is the kind of crappy article that brainwashes so many people into buying DVD recorders and staying with VHS tapes.

Just wanted to share with you.

Maybe somebody should share this with that writer:

Just goes to show, anyone can pretend to be an expert, and most people will believe them. Some are even good enough to get paid for it.

    Hey !

The author sounds like this guy

As I've always prophesised, dedicated tools for dedicated jobs = options and flexibility.

In all fairness, a lot of those softwares are probably *OK* for the majority of people that don't visit this site. Methinks the author didn't know how to use them. Either that or he found the instructions on the back of a weeties box
    If in doubt, Google it.

My fav "clueless" article is from a Swedish computer mag, from a computer repair shop. A translation of the text goes like this:
Andreas Hedlund has covered all possible software problems. Now, he's found that the hardware, the Mother Modem, the heart of the hard drive, doesn't work

Or could it be - now that I look closer, it looks like a Mac! - that Macs do have mother modems in their HDDs?
