Adobe premier shows no sound waves?!

Hello,
I have been having this problem for awile now. When ever I import a video (say an mpeg) I can watch the video fine and add my own music but the sound that comes with movie does not have any sound waves...Yet if I watch it in any player there is sound...Please help and thanks.

Not sure exactly what you mean. However, if you're asking to display the actual audio wave in your timeline, you have to set the time interval to a max of 2 sec. Any longer will time will prevent the audio wave from being displayed. Hope this helps.

Yeah, it's that I cannot here it either in premier. If you can solve that would be great.

What format is the audio track. And are you trying to dump both tracks on the same audio track?

Ok. Had to ask that. Now when you drag the video to one of the video tracks do you see the audio channel with an alike square. IE Video in 1A and Audio in Audio 1? Make sure the Spearker is showen for that track. Click Play on the monitor. You should hear something.

Also what does the info about the clip tell you? If you see nothing for audio odds are Primiere could only bring in the video. You would need to demutiplex video & audio then convert the audio.

Add your Music track on one of the other Audio tracks.

To display the "Wave" form. just click the Triangle just to the left of the word Audio.

PS: Which version of Primiere are you running?

Premiere cannot use some audio formats. Is this AC3? No NLE can use that.

Do you mean Primiere Elements? Or Pro or standard 4, 5 or 6?

Never heard of CS and cant find it on their site.

I am not sure what version of Premeire you are using, but if you are using Premeire Pro, anytime you import a video .avi file, Premeire creates a conforming audio file for the video before you will be able to hear the audio on the file. It will do that for every video file you import into Premeire Pro, and theres not much you can do about it except wait for that process to finish. Once done you will be able to hear the audio.
