  1. It is

    AMD Sempron 2800
    A7N8X-X
    256 MB PC3200
    ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB

    what do you think?

I know I got cheap on the RAM but I will be giving her another 512 MB when I get 1 GB for myself later, and she just turned 7.

Will this be a good system for games ?

  2. For a seven year old, that should be fine. Especially that CPU - more than enough power for the next few years. I am unfamilar with the performance offered by ATI cards, but a £50 upgrade could be made if that card doens't cut it.

Not too much more will get you a much better video card. Even with the 9200, yes it will be good for games when set at lower detail levels and resolutions.

put a matching stick of 256 in there and you should be good. might wanna up the vid card but i doubt you really need to for the level of games she would be playin.

  9. FOr her games it would be fine. If you put another 256+ ram in there it will be quite usable on the latest games as well. The CPU is solid, but 512 is the reasonable minimum for the newest games. That vid card is getting long in the tooth, but can still run them quite adequately.

If you really wanted to you could trade up that 9200 for a 9600 or faster, and it would not cost much to do.
