I have video clips on MPG. I am using Nero 6 to burn them. I would like to fit 4 clips per dvd but they are too big. The MPG clips are 500mb each. What is a program I can use to lower the bit rate so I can fit more files per dvd?

Another question. When I try to burn, Nero says it will take 5 hrs to convert the video then burn. They burn quick, but why does it take so long to convert the video? If I use WinAVI, it only takes like 30 mins.

It sounds like nero is trying to re-encode the mpegs. What is the specs of your mpeg files (ie resolution, framerate, audio, bitrate)? If they are not dvd compliant nero will re-encode. You can shrink your mpegs by using dvdshrink or rejig. Download avicodec and post the results of your mpeg specs here.

I don't think DVDShrink will work with raw mpeg files. If that's what you're trying to shrink then you need to reencode at a lower bitrate using TMPGEnc or something similar.
