Taiyo Yuden DVD's on sale at $4.99/15 cake at Office Depot. A good deal as their 50 cake goes for $39.95 for the same thing.

I saw the ad. You can select from Maxell, Memorex, or Philips 15 pc cakebox. At that price, I can't imagine why anyone would select other than the Maxell (barring being sold out).

The Maxwell's are Taiyo Yuden. I do not know what the others are, nor do I care. That is a great price. They had a cake of 50 for $39.95, I got 60 for $20+ tax. They were going fast.

However not all Maxells are TY, this I know cause I took back some that were not.

I concur. I've bought many packs of Maxells that weren't TY's, including the 15 packs of 4x and 8x. I get RG02 (4x) or RG03 (8x) much more often than TY.

I bought one pack of the maxell 8x dvd-r media from OD which had the MADE IN JAPAN on the label....media code was MXL RG03 which in my opinion is good media.......just because it's not TY doesn't mean it's crappy.....

The Maxwell's I got were made in Japan and are TY discs. As some have said, "there could be other manufacturers."

other manufacturers are RITEK.....if the label says, "MADE IN TAIWAN", they are RITEK.....
