  1. For the first time, I have burnt a Taiyo Yuden 8x media using my NEC3500a @ 2.16 FW. The speed was close to 16x. My final time came to a lightning 6 mins. This blank came with the unit as sample. So, I guess I will be using the Taiyo from now on.

    Anyone has any suggestions?

  2. TY is the best media around and I have gotten burn times around 6 minutes too, but I would;'t be burning at 16x too frequently. I prefer quality over time.

  3. When I read the desc in dvddecrypter, It says 1x,4x,8x,12x,16x. So If it is capable of 16x, why not? I would think it would have the same quality, NO?

I just burned my sample Taiyo 8X disk at max speed in Nero with my NEC3500A burner. It burned at or near 16X and took ~ 6 minutes. I also had the bitsetting adjusted to make it a DVD-ROM. The resulting disk plays fine in my Sony DVD player, but I can't properly navigate the menus in the project. On my PC, the disk locks up when played in my NEC burner, but seems to work properly in my Artec DVD-ROM. Like aanaravs said, I think I'll burn at rated speeds most of the time. I'm using Liggy's firmware 2.18 v1 final R3 (name may be a bit off).
