Cannot stick subtitled films, no matter how good they are. I'm always pissed as a parrot near the end of a film and can never make out the writing.

Ah, so that's why he's always falling off his perch.

I like watching foreign films, they are usually much more 'earthy' and true-to-life than commercial hollywood-type productions.
It's also a fact that many hollywood films are re-makes of foreign films anyway.

I'll take a foreign film over a Hollywood blockbuster anyday.
    His name was MackemX

I've watched quite a number of Russian films in the past few years, and found them very interesting. My wife translates them on-the-fly and gives her translating skills a workout!

We have a collection now of several hundred (500+) Russian films, and some T.V. shows and musicals. I never knew there were so many films made there, and a lot of them comedies. Hey, they have a sense of humor, too

I never had much of a taste for foreign films before, but unlike Ironballs, I actually prefer subs over dubbing (when available). I'd rather hear the original dialogue and read the subs, I feel like I get more meaning out of the stress of words from the original speaker than some monotone dubber. Just my opinion.

    Hello,

Nah... never can really get into foreign films.... Unless you count "Ducttape Forever" a foreign film since it's Canadian and I'm American!

  18. I love Iranian, Korean, French, Japanese and Chinese
movies. I loath all Egyptian, some Italian and most Russian movies.

I hate dubbed films. Dubbed accents drive me to
despair. I do have one pRon film (Spanish/German) where
the English dubbing is hilarious . Obviously the
voice actors were not paid enough so half way
through the film they start mucking up - screaming, making nasty comments about the stars, overacting the moans and groans and generally being very
    silly

    Hello,

Ok I do like Godzilla movies (notorious for the dubbing - especially the really bad 70's ones ).

The only foreign films I like are Cross of Iron and Stalingrad(the German film from 1989). I'd like to see Winter War (Finnish WW2 movie) sometime.

Generally, I'm not a big fan of foreign films but I find I do like the "cross over" films. Don't know if there's a better term but these are kind of a combination of foreign mood and American sensationalism. A good example of the type of film I'm referring to is Léon (The Professional).

Maybe someone else knows of the proper name for this type of film...

  23. I like watching American-made films in foreign languages 8)
Sometimes they're more entertaining that way :P

I like seeing the American-made films for select foreign markets, 'cause they can accept our films with all the graphic sex, nudity and viloence...it's nice to be able to see the films as they were originally shot (not censored versions by the studios) I can handle most stuff that mainstream audiences can't...so I have to venture out a bit to find those versions (they're not always easy to access).

I also prefer foreign language films in their original versions - not the censored American Imports. However, there are no subtitles (so it helps if I'm fluent in the language of that country)

If only you knew what all they cut from films.

I'll watch films from any country...but I have to either have some interest in the subject matter or certain actors, directors to go through the effort of finding that film.

Usually, it's older films that I'm interested in...'50s, '60s, '70s (mostly from that period) but I've seen films from all eras.

I favor European films...but have seen a number from most countries.

If Canadian, British and Aussie films count - those are the ones I watch most frequently.
