    Hi everybody:

I'm planning to buy a new TFT monitor to replace my old CRT 14".
As one of the reasons why I want to change is to see movies, the bigger the best !! right ???.

I have made a search and the best price for a 22" monitor is 229 € (316 $ )for the ACER AL2202W TFT.

As I find it very cheap compared with other products of the same size I have some doubts about its quality and performance.

Has anyone here on this forum such a monitor that could give some aditional information about it ???

    tks in advance.

I just bought a bunch of monitors and learned the following:
17" name brand good price is $100 US
19" name brand good price is $130 US
22" name brand good price is $180 US
Nearly all LCD monitors today use TFT technology
The monitors are all the same. Made in the same plants in the same way.
When they leave the plants they are graded. Viewsonic and other big brands get the best units.
The not so big brands, off brands, buy and sell what is left.
You can see the difference on the left and right hand sides of the screen. Good monitors you will see nothing. Off brand monitors you will see some darkening on the screen from the edge to 1/4 inch in toward the center. This is because the insert/panel/display did not line up properly during assembly.
    My 17" Samsungs were perfect.
    My 19" Viewsonics were perfect.
My 22" Westinghouse show some darkening. It is not perfect, but ok for me.
Westinghouse is not a name brand. They just stamped their name on it. They are marketers.
Just look for a deal. Don't pay too much. Best Buy has a 30 return with no restock charge. Try it. If you like it buy it. If not take it back.
