Backup Region 1 DVD to play on Region 2 player?

Please can anyone help, with this, I have a limited edition of Blackadder Region 1 and as I only have one multi-region player in the house, would like to be able to backup these discs to be able to watch on one the Region 2 players in the house.

I won't let me open the files (Video_TS), and DVD Decrypter gives an error as well.

Any ideas out ther please??

I don't know about anyone else, but I read this as the DVD is region 1 now, but he needs it to be region 2, not region-free, because he only has 1 region-free player and would like it to play on one of the region 2-only players ?

If so, modify the picture below by unticking Region Free, and making sure that region 2 is ticked. I don't think it matters if any others are ticked, as this just means it will play in these other regions as well. But it should be fine on a Region 2-only DVD Player.



Now, you say you got errors in both DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter when trying to load the DVD> Is it possible for you to either direct quote the error messages, or post screen caps of them ?

It is a bit hard to diagnose without knowing the exact error

'multi-system' refers to the television system (usually PAL or NTSC). Region is a coding on DVDs. They are two different things.

If you remove the region code to make a region-free DVD then think of it as an 'any-region' DVD- It should play on any DVD player regardless of the region. But it will still be either NTSC or PAL signal and won't necessarily play on a DVD player that uses the other system.

So are you sure that your problem is region and not system?

Not exactly true. Not all players play region-free discs. Some require a distinct region to be set on the disc. Then there's a whole heap of other players that can play region-free, but come factory-set to a distinct region and need settings to be changed either via their menu or a hack to become region-free.

In the text of your message, type [*img]filename.ext[/img] but don't type the * - I put it there so you can see the code filename.ext is the name of your file and the extension, and make sure that there are no spaces in the filename. Then use the browse button (just above the submit button) to browse to where you have the file saved. Then submit the post, and it should upload the picture for you. Make sure the picture is less than 150KB.

I have done that, it came up as an icon and won't show the image, does it need to have a url???

you could try a free image hosting site such as http://www.photobucket.com. Once you upload the image to the host, photobucket.com will provide you with a link you can paste into (any) forum to display the image:



*note: I would also recommend saving the image as a .gif or .png to produce a small file size. (.jpg is better for photo-type images, .gif & .png for lineart/graphics/images with solid colors)

Make sure the image is <150KB.
This is a guess but are you using a region 2 DVD-ROM/writer?
If so you will have to change it to region 1 in Windows Device Manager,then play the DVD in PowerDVD or WinDVD.Now you should be able to rip the disc.

That's really not an 'error', just information and a choic. Have you tried click 'OK' and letting it use brute force?

Run it through DVDFAB to remove region coding, or change, and macrovision.
