Hi,
I have ripped a DVD with DVD Shrink using the region free option. I am living in the united states and have had no issue with burning playing the DVD. Recently I had visitors from the UK. I loaned them my copy of this DVD but I am wondering if it will play in their PAL players. I've been a bit confused as to the similarities between Region (1, 2, 3, etc) and PAL vs NTSC.
Does a region free rip necessarily mean the DVD will play fine on PAL or NTSC players?

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind...

Since it's a burned disk the Region problem won't apply.
As to it being NTSC video, it seems that in the UK, standalone players have no problems with it - that's according to the people I talk to in the UK. -
UK type players will typically play NTSC DVD as PAL-60 for analog out. PAL-60 plays fine on European TV sets, but not on US TV sets.
Very few capture cards will capture PAL-60.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
