    Hi,

    I have my Phillips DVP642 set to 16x9 in the settings and when I play a widescreen AVI or MPG file its squished on the top and bottom. I have to set my HDTV to a zoom feature to make it look correct.

    Why is the player showing widescreen video incorrectly?

    maybe its not anamorphic wide screen, and instead its letter boxed, or maybe the video is at the wrong ratio.
