I have created some DVD's on my PC using Sonic DVDit LE. These are run through the 'build dvd folder' and then cut onto DVD using Nero.

They play OK on my PC, and also on my portable DVD player.

But when I try to play them on my home DVD player, it scans the disk and then displays on the screen:

playback feature may not be enabled on this disc.

And it won't play. Is this a shortcoming of the DVD player, or am I missing something.

The DVD player will play copied (erm backed up!) DVDs no problem, using the same discs manufacturer, but not the new ones I create??

    Any clues???

Did you choose dvd-video in nero? If not you must be sure to burn in correct mode, https://www.videohelp.com/author#3;25

Why not try burn with sonic dvdit?

I have burned the DVD, and will be testing tonight...

    Let you know the results.

Don't use DVDit full version, as we got it with Adobe Premier as part of the program.

    Coooool !!

It played like a dream.. Looks great, really smooth.

Only one more problem. When I play it on the PC, I get the full image, all of the 720 x 576 pixels. I am in the UK, so its PAL as well.

BUT.. when I played it on my TV at home, it seemed to cut off all 4 edges, so it looked as if I had slightly zoomed in?

Any buttons that were say 50 pixels in from the edge, where now right on the edge of the screen??

    Any ideas???

That's how TV works. The phenomenon even got its own name: Overscan. TV production usually takes this into account.

Hmm, I thought so. Just been reading some other posts about this.

If I add a border, I suppose that could work.

I use Adobe Premiere to write the M2V file, and then DVDit to create the DVD folder.

    I have to use 720 x 576 pixel AR 1.067 obviously otherwise I get a bad movie!

Can I add a border in Premiere without losing any quality, and still maintaining the 720 x 576 size??
