...or yet another Black Friday thread.![]()
I have often lamented life in a small town, and our town is small! Population > 33,000. Our only available B&M technology stores are Radio Shed, or Staples. Well, after seeing the pre-release Black Friday flyers for Staples. I decided that even if I didn't need the DL DVD ($40 after easy rebate) or the 160G HD ($40 after easy rebate), I would probably get them anyway, just because it was too great a deal to pass up.
So this morning I got up at 4AM, got some coffee, checked the latest posts here, got dressed, and was out the door at 5:40 (sale started at 6AM). Pulled into Staples at 5:47, and was shocked to see that they were already open. I wouldn't say the store was packed, but it was busy (about 45 people
). I had to wait for almost a full minute to get a salesperson to show me where they were hiding these items, paid for my purchases( at 5:54, before the sale even started), and left.
Home at 6:07 to find my half cup of coffee on the counter still warm, back online, and filing my easy rebates! The wife and daughter are still sleeping, it's still dark outside, and I have all day to play with the new toys. Ain't life in a small town great?!?!?![]()

I wish it was like that here. I did not go to a single store tekkieman. After dealing with all of that shit last year and still leaving out of the store with nothing. I decided not to waste my time this year.

small town population 33,000??? Holy Cow, that's pert-near to us country folk. Our town has a population of 4 people, 4 dogs, 2 homeless cats, about 24 deer (which will probably dwindle quickly next week, gun season). Our mayor is a little critter with a big fluffy tail, he plays with nuts all day
you have to watch him, he's a little squirrelly
Pretty good buy there Tekkie, now that's christmas shopping at it's finest and spoken like a true man. Knew what you wanted, knew where it was, and knew how much it cost. Went, bought, returned. Now why the **** can't a woman grasp that simple concept? -
The mrs. got up about 30 mins. ago, came into the office, looked at me and said "...you're dressed! Are you going out?"
I laughed! -

heh, small town... I come from a town of about 700, about 1/2 hr drive to the nearest city of 45,000 (Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada). Thge population of the Province, New Brunswick, is about 730,000 and the area of the province is about 75,000 sq. km (larger than France)....
We generally have a small, high priced selection of goods, although that has been better with the rise of internet shopping (which used to save me about 25% a few years ago).
Cheers,
