  1. Can anyone recommend optimum capture settings for the Instant VCD capture cord. Quality is not much of an issue (I would prefer speed). I would like to capture from camcorder and VCR and eventually convert to DVD.

    System: WinXP Home P4 2.2G/ 256 MB/ 80G

Capture settings have nothing to do with the speed of the capture

What I want to know is what frame size, frame rate, file type(avi, mpeg etc)to use, so that when I convert to dvd it will take the least amount of time?
(What would be closest to dvd standards??)
The device claims to capture at VCD resolutions: (352x240 at up tp 20 fps NTSC)

Actually that should be .... ask a stupid question, get a GREAT answer"

If you are using Instant VCD in NTSC land (US), it does only 1 resolution (352x240), 1 frame rate (29.97) and 1 file type (*.mpg). Thats all it does. VCD resolution is an accepted DVD standard, so you can play in your DVD player from DVD-R or +R disk. To play VCD from a CD-R, you will have to check to your DVD player specs. So in short you dont have to convert your VCD captures to play them.

BTW, this unit does not capture *.avi files. Have fun.

  6. Thanks for the help...

I guess that might help explain some of my other capture proplems.
Perhaps I should take some time and RTFM
