I've been reading all about what to do regarding lost frames during capture, but I don't know how to see if, and to what degree I have this issue. I'm new at this and only want to capture .avi from my camcorder to edit and burn to DVD. I have the steps down, but I just finished my first capture and want to know if I have lost any frames before I edit and encode.
Also, when I capture from the digital camcorder, do I still choose a "resolution"? I used Ulead 5.0 to capture and I don't remember selecting a resolution.
Thanks.

Your camcarder is digita, so I assume DV. Therefore are you 'capturing' via firewire. If you are (and you should be) then it is not really capturing, simply a transfer of data from the tape to your HD.
Your capture app should inform you of lost/dropped frames during the capture procedeure. You don't need to select a resolution as DV is a fixed resolution (720 * 480 NTSC, 720 * 576 PAL).
