optorite dd0203 firmware help

i have a optorite dd0203 burner and my stand alone dvd player reads memorex 4x dvds just fine but when i went to my local walmart to get some dvds to burn they only had the memorex 8x so i bought some of them and i tried one but my stand alone dvd player wont reconize the disc if i upgrade my firmware will that help and i need step by step instuctions to upgrade the firmware also any inf would be helpful

Is you burner compatible with these 8x Memorex discs? Are they +R or -R? Here is a list of media that the DD0203 is compatible with:

As you can see, there are not too many 8x media codes it explicitly supports. Still, if you could burn the disc and at 8x, then that is a good sign. Does it play back on your computer? If so, maybe your standalone player is not compatible with this media.

As for instructions on how to upgrade firmware in DOS, I couldn't find any but I am sure such information exists and finding it won't be too hard.
