I have heard that this is some of the best media. I have used Ritek G04 and some DVD discs randomly fail after awhile. So, in order to not take any chances with media, I want to purchase the best media available. What is the best place to purchase quality media in the USA. 8)

Swtiched over to the darkside? I walked into staples and saw several 15 packs of 8x DVD+R and DVD-R, all made in Japan. MAXELL002 and MXLRG03 would be their respective media codes (I bought a spindle of the +R but for some reason returned them, and I have a 5 pack of the -Rs so I can confirm the codes).

Maxell has *been* using Taiwan for DVD+R (RicohjpnR01 and now some Ritek R02), but most of their DVD-R is still made in Japan. It's not like they've totally gone to Taiwan media. On top of that, I don't think I've ever heard of any of their bulk inkjet or thermal printable DVD-Rs being made in Taiwan, just retail media.

Same here. I was an outspoken advocate of Maxell ...until they went from TYG01 to Ritek G04 for their 4X DVD-R. Now I buy straight Taiyo TYG02 from Rima (the real stuff...prod. #1736) I just bought 200 for 49 cents each.

Well, I don't buy Maxell to get TY, I buy Maxell to get MXL RG03 and MAXELL002, so all I have to do is stick to the 8x -R and +R MIJ and I'm fine
