would there be any problems putting clips from both video formats &/or of different size resolutions on one dvd?

Yes. Shouldn't be done. At least not in the same title set.

Different size, ie. 352x240, 352x480, 704x480 and 720x480 on same disk is OK.
PAL and NTSC on same disk, ie 704x480 and 704x576 is not within DVD spec and probably won't be allowed by you authoring app.
And since it isn't within DVD spec some standalone DVD-players might not play correctly.
This said, I often mix PAL and NTSC on same disk and they play well on my Pioneer. -
No. Out of spec. DVD must be PAL or NTSC. Make two discs, or convert one of the files.
