I think I am going to camp out in the ot for awhile and try and increase my percentage.
It is embarrasingly low.
I have done enough trying to help for a long time.

17% of your posts are in OT
Disgraceful, bazooka. I'm speechless .....
j/k -
I can see it now. The "Last Post" column in OT will be filled with the following 3 members: Capmaster, yoda313, and bazooka.

I don't need to see my name either.
I just enjoy things more from the friendly confines of the ot.
I ratted out a warez person last night and hes is already pm'ing me trying to compare stealing satellite signals to ripping dvd's. -

Hello,
Yeah Bazooka what's going on???? Only 17% OT??????
I'm over 60% now...

I decided about a month or so ago that my percentage was too high, so I tried to help people out.
Now it is too low. -
Being an IT Techie myself, I fully understand how Bazooka gets pissed with dumbasses that don't take care of their PCs, and then expect us to work miracles. These people are normally work colleagues, who bring in their 286 with 8MB EDO RAM and a 2.1GB hard drive, and expect us to update them to WinXP and Office 2003. They haven't got a ******* hope in hell, and I tell them so
I've seen some classics over the years .... People complaining of popups, poor internet access and funky behavior going on, then I ask them about AV, and they just say "It was installed when I bought it". I ask them if they've updated the definitions any time recently, only to get a blank stare. "What, I have to do this weekly?" is the standard response
Now the second string to my bow is that I work in a bank. I do Direct Entry as well as IT, so I deal with everyone's pays coming in electronically, as well as Direct Debits for just about anything these days. You should see the number of people who ring up to ask about Direct Debits from <insert generic name here>, only for us to do a trace and find out that the company falls in to the "Adult Entertainment" category. The silence on the other end of the phone is defeaning when we tell them directly that it's just their porn subscriptionAlso, the number of people that transfer money to ebay sellers, and use either their own handle, or the seller's handle, as the destination account name. There's no issue if this is the reference, but how the **** am I to know that John Smith goes by the alias "sheep_******_no_2" on ebay ?
Anyway, not to threadjack .... oh wait, I'm in OT .... it's acceptable in here ...If in doubt, Google it. -
Don't get me wrong. I've had my share of hand holding in the IT game. It is frustrating but you have to deal with people. I *still* have a client from the old days who
runs a several million $ turnover business off the back of
a Italian 386 with flaky MFM drive. -
Offline,
Take heart, for one of these days that drive will bite the dust, thus prompting him to get rid of that 386. -
Oh he uses modern computers. He just won't hear of losing the 386
which I setup to do all the delayed international faxing. My 1st job for him
was upgrading the original RLL Scribe to a fancy new MFM. I've gone
in and brought it back to life many times. -
Offline,
Why is he so attached to such an antiquated computer? -
