Is there a way to tell what brand/code blank media is before you buy? I know you can use dvdinfopro to check but that is after the fact. Also, I recently bought 50pk prodisk printable dvd+r form mediasuperstore, and after using 20 with no problems, last six were duds? Can I still try and return them, after using about half?

What are good dvd+r printable media? Using HP300i writer.

I saws a thread sometime ago that listed the good and bad can anyone direct me to it?

Also, CMC MMC? Can't remember which is better?

  2. CMC DVD+R seems to be very good. I've had success with CMCMAGF01 (rated 4x). I get great Kprobe scans when I burn at 4x (6x & 8x are completely playable, but don't scan as well). I've seen great scans of CMC DVD+R 8x media over at CDFreaks. I'm not up on what's available in the printable format, but I'd look for CMCMAGF01 or RICOHJPNR01 (based on your burner).

As Shocker said, with your rebadged NEC drive, CMC +R media is great.

When buying online, look for Ritek +R printables, and Taiyo Yuden +R printables. www.rima.com has a great (the best?) price on all Taiyo Yuden media. The Ritek's are 4x, so the Media ID would be R02.

I'm not sure what brands, if any, use CMC for their printable DVD+Rs. You could try a small pack of Memorex printables from your local Office Depot store.

Supermedia has a 60 day return policy for the Prodisc. So return them. Make sure you get a RMA # from them.
