  1. Greetings,

I have been buying cheap dvd media, and after 6 months or so, they either don't play right, or can't be copied due to recyclic redundancy error. Good lesson learned. Not to repeat that mistake again. I now have a few good brands in my inventory.

Please help me rank them so that I can pick the right disc for the right occassion. For me longevity is very important.

    Here is my guess ...
    1. Maxell 4X-R (TYG01)
    2. TDK 4X-R (TTG01)
    3. TDK 4X+R (RICOHJPNR01 )
    4. Fuji 4X+R (RICOHJPNR01)
    5. Ridata 4X+R (RICOHJPNR01)
    6. Fuji 8X-R (TYG02)
    7. Fuji 8X+R (YUDEN000T02)
    8. Velocity 4X-R (MCC 01RG20)
    9. Maxell 4X+R (RITEK...R02)

I put TYG02 and YUDEN000T02 below RICOHJPNR01 because I consistently find the top few discs in all mine Fuji spindles to have visible blemishes, also the purple dye color is not as deep as the RICOHJPNR01. But is it right to judge the quality of a disc by the deep richness of its dye color?

And 1 last question, should all TDK, Fuji, Ridata's RICOHJPNR01 be of same quality?

Please share with me your opion and experience.

    Sincerely appreciate your input.

I'd agree with the following exception:
I would put the Fuji TYG02 at the top, The Maxell TYG01 right behind it, then the rest as you already have them ranked

The reason: TYG01 is superb media, but the TYG02 is as close to perfect media as I have ever found. The +R Yuden I have no experience with.

The other Japan-made Ricoh media is no doubt great stuff, but since I haven't tried it, it'd have to fall in behind my two top choices

The +R Yuden is every bit as good as its DVD-R counterpart, and RICOHJPNR01 is as good as it gets.
