I have a little problem here, all my progs i use to burn DVD's go at 4x by default since the blank DVD "support" 4x. Is there a way or a prog to can make me choose to speed i want cause Nero, DVDshrink, Ulead, all of them cant be changed and 1 out of 3 DVD's get errors on it.

In both Nero and DVD Shrink I find settings that can set the burn rate at whatever the media can support.
In NERO, under Burn Image, New Compilation screen, hit the Burn TAB and set the Write Rate.
In DVD Shrink- after the DVD files are loaded, hit the Backup button and select Burn Settings tab to set Write rate.
Hope I have understood your problem. It should be easily settable.Steve W. -
well if you have a burner thats rated at 4x or above, and media thats 4x rated you really shouldnt get coasters unless your media is really cheap. it should be in a pull down box to change the speed in nero. like on30trainman said its really the media tellin the burner what speeds it can burn at. i would first get better media and you could also try a firmware update

I was not clear on my first post and left out a needed information. I know how to change the speed but the progs doesnt give me the choices. Like Nero, when i hit the pull down box, theres only 4x and its the same with all the progs. Theres 4x and nothing else to choose and yes sometimes i use cheap dvd's cause i dont always have the extra 15$/20$ to get good ones so thats why i need to burn at 2x.
Hope you understand now -

And do yourself a favor and get a copy of DVDInfo Pro from the tools section. It's free, and it'll tell you all about a media's Media ID - the all-important indicator of who makes it, and the write strategies for the media
