DVD-R playback problems on LG 3510

I need urgent help. From AVS Forum, someone replied to my post by saying:

"My unit had problems playing Virbatim +4x, Fuji +4x, Memorex +4x,
TDK +4x, TDK -2X all recorded with Pc burners Plextor-708, Sony-500ax, NEC-2500. (Using Nero)

Then I've read somewhere that Maxell media is the best. Bought -4x
and never had any skipping since. Try it if you are having problems with the media that you're using.

I'm also connected to Sony 32 inch LCD with dvi/HDMI monster cable.
I've never had any HDCP warning messages.
This unit is great."

Is it safe to say the LG 3510 doesn't like DVD+R? And very picky about the brand of DVD-R? Is it the color of the data side of the disc that makes a difference? Or something else?

Finally, what version of Nero Burning Rom works best for the LG3510? And what are the critical settings before you burn? I have these pages to reference for Nero, please let me know if you do anything different:
