    Can anyone recommend an excelent easy to use software for this. With excellent quality and optional visual/sound effects.

    I've seen Memories on TV suggested before... Personally I would get DVD Workshop but that is more expensive and complicated for your average user.

    Try dvdSanta - I did and it looks cool.
    Has some nice options regarding Photo slide shows on DVD.

    One of the best pieces of software that I have used is Slide Show Movie Maker. It lets you make transitions, titles, and even paning and zooming over your pictures. I would Highly recommend it. And its FREE, so you don't have anything to loose by giving it a try. PM me with your email and I can send you a demo video.
