  1. Hello,
I am looking for a DVD burner. I have found out a lot (!!) by reading this forum and links from it...
I have some questions now. I'm looking at the LG GSA4160B. Please tell me if this is correct:
After I buy the burner, I need to get either:
    1) RPC1 Firmware - but that only does half the job. I also then need a program like DVD Genie to overcome the protection in the payer (?)
    or
    2) Get DVD copy software (such as DVDFab) and that will do everything.
I am living in Central America, and I have been told DVD players are hard to get here, due to illegal copying etc. There is a ligitimate computer store in the city, and they have on their shelves the LG GSA 4160B for around US$300. The guy says i t comes with all the Firmware etc. already included. Would this be true? Is that normal? I think he is trying to rip me off - no? lol. I see prices of the same item at on-line stores in the US for around $80. Is there anything special or different in a DVD burner that is sold in Central America, and not the US?
I had to ask this before I make my decision.
    Thanks.

    In Canada it's CDN$104.99+taxes.
Central America is pretty big, ...if you're in Panama I would offer him US$100, he'll go $200, you go $125, etc. ...you know the drill 8)

Buena suerte compay, ojala te salga bien la compra.

    Cheers!

  3. The LG 4120B wasn't a very good burner for me, I've had 3 people tell me that LG burned discs skipped and paused. I have since seen other LG owners with similar problems. I traded for an NEC 3500 and haven't had a problem with any discs since.
