war-sturdy portable DVD players

Planning to send about 8 portable dvd players in $300-$400 range to troops in Iraq for viewing movies. Assume protective carrying cases would be essential for the rough environment and long-life rechargable batteries that can be recharged in their environment. What other features or considerations? All same make & model best or variety of makes & models? Any advice appreciated.

I'm planning to send some care packages over there myself this week...One of the biggest things listed on the troops wish lists are DVD's...Although I'm not sending any Players, I am sending some DVD's...However I am sending also a couple of Coffee Pots and some cooking gear... I was told to either remind them or provide for them some sort of electrical converter.. There power sources over there are not the same as they are here in the states...I was talking to a guy who sent over a microwave at it was destroyed the minute they tried to hook it up due to the power source differences..So you may want to look into what type of electrical plug/converters to send along with the unit also..

Depending on the size of the DVD unit I would recomend a Pelican case or simular. A case that allows all the goodies to fit in it when not in use seems like a good idea but feild conitions may nesesitate other uses for your gifts. I like the idea of little cameras so the troops can document their experience and share it with others or for their own memories. I can never repay the troops for their service nor can I express my gratitude or thanks. I will always feel indebted to them and always appreciative of their service.
