Has anyone succeeded in frameserving from Sony Vegas Movie Studio? If I use the debugmode frameserver all I get is a file with audio and no video.
VFAPI gives an error every time I try and use it with Movie Studio - it says it can't accept the format (no matter what the format).
Even when I do get the blank video file with the debugmode frameserver, Movie Studio still spends all the usual time rendering the file, which defeats the purpose of frameserving even if I could get a file with video.
I want to edit in Movie Studio, frameserve out (without rendering) and encode in TMPGEnc. Any ideas?
Thanks,
trock

can you play the frame served file in media player?
no mater what -- if there are effects or such (other than straight cuts) , the file will have to be rendered at some point .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
movie studio and Vegas will accept vfapi frame served files - no problems .. do it all the time ..
check your vfapi installation"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

I do it all the time out of Vdub without problems but I haven't been able to get Movie Studio to do it. And in looking across many forums across the web, many others are having trouble with it. I was hoping that maybe someone here had successfully figured out a way.

then if you are going OUT of movie studio , what has vfapi have to do with anything ?
the only frame server (out) that works with movie studio is the debugmode one ...
straight cuts - movie studio will not re-render if your project properties match the source properties and it is a dv file.."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
i briefly looked at the official movie studio sony forum , and didnt see any one having any problems like this (or much of any other)

I'm evaluating Movie Studio with a view to purchasing it and I just want to be able to frameserve from it but when I looked for how others were successfully doing it all I could find so far are others complaining about the same blank video or other problems (which I don't have). -
ahh - well that is no good ....
pick up a copy of vegas 4 instead (older version) , you can buy them for about the same as movie studio and a lot more features (and the frame serving works)"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
on ebay i see for less than $100 for the whole package:
vegas 4
acid 4
sound forge 7
dvd author 1
and a bunch of extra stuff -- all legal ....
