    I have read about dual layer writing capability of Sony DRU 710 A which can write 8.5 GB instead of 4.7GB. What is the media used for dual writing ? Is it DVD-R, DVR+R or any special type of media ?

    Yup, it's Dual Layer media. Verbatim (and others) have it around in +R versions. I don't know of any -R yet.

    What is the cost of DVD+R DL media in USA ? I reside in India and can anyone advise me where to get one in India ?

    DL media started at $15 now if you shop carefully they are below $10.

    Meanwhile quality single layer 4.7GB media has dropped well below $1
