  1. Seems like one every I use nero to copy something, it always comes out unsuccesful so I messed with the settings and clicked determine max speed. Well I got this when I did that

Can only write at 4x instead of 8x because speed of source data is to slow.

Whats this mean, is it the media I'm using of the original disc I'm copying

  2. It sounds like the drive you are using to read the disc can only read at 4x,you should save it to HD first then burn.
I have had bad luck copying DVD's on the fly too.

If you are doing a direct copy of a disc on the fly, not too surprising. A DVD ROM should be able to keep up with a DVD burner, but sometimes not. It's safer to buffer a DVD to a HD and let that feed your burner.

On the other hand if your HD isn't keeping up, you have a problem. Also, you might try another program to copy discs besides Nero.

It means the slowdown isn't because of your HD interface. DMA4 is more than plenty to handle burning at 8X.

It means that your problem is probably crappy media
