  1. hey all,

I'm looking to edit a piece of video that has a 2.0 PCM audio track. I used womble MPEG-VCR but when you save the file after editing, it changes to mp2.

Is there any program that will allow me to work with the audio as a PCM track?

    Hi digitalfreaknyc,

I've never edited MPEGs so can't think of anything. Have you had a good look through the "Tools" section? There may well be something in there.

The only other thing that springs to mind is to demux the audio, do your editing in Womble and adjust your audio accordingly, then remux. But it could introduce synch problems if you don't get it right...
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

demux the vob with f.e. vobedit then work on the PCM with the editor of your choice then reauthor MV2 + PCM (WAV) (+ chapters) with ifoedit
    should be the easiest way!

    bye Daphy

  5. I don't want to demux before I've edited. The sync issues alone would be hellish.

I'm playing with cuttermaran but it's much more difficult than MPEG2VCR. That program was much more user friendly than this one. Cuttermaran just keeps crashing on me and plus, you can't hear the audio when you're playing/making edits. That's a big plus to me.

I haven't tried TMPGEnc MPEG Editor myself, but DreamCapturer wrote this: TMPGEnc MPEG Editor has a definite advantage over Womble MPEG-VCR in that you can choose to output LPCM as it is or encode to AC3 using the Plug-in that comes with TDA. I prefer to capture MPEG with LPCM audio and edit before correcting the audio and then encoding, while MPEG-VCR still insist on reencoding LPCM to MP2 in spite of their promise to lift the restriction.

I haven't tried VideoReDo either, but this is from the changelog: VideoReDo will support files with LPCM (uncompressed) audio.
