Hi,
Straight to my problem, I have Xvid files taken from the net that play in BSplayer in what I would call 16x9 aspect ratio. When I take said files and put them into Ulead DVD Movie Factory its stretches the hell out of them.
I would use Tmpgenc but it just creates a huge file if I pick DVD and canopus gives me a vid and audio file. There was another program I used to use a few years ago called vobsub? maybe dont know.
Ulead DVD Factory is pretty good the quality was good and let me fit 5 tv eps on one disc if it would only let me keep the aspect ratio.
I have tried to left click the video it doesnt give and option. Project settings are useless.
Is there an easy to use program like Ulead that will let me keep the aspect ratio. I am guessing the problem is in the video itself as it doesnt actualy have the letter boxing so the Ulead probably doesnt know.
I am using Canopus to do a MPEG conversion but that just means that Ulead will convert it back.

I don't use that software, but is there a way to specify the video aspect ratio of the DVD? You are probably using the authoring in 4:3 mode and when you import the 16:9 movies it is stretching it.

I don't know about the newer versions of DVD Movie Factory but last when I used it (version 2.0 as I recall) it was not a very good MPEG encoder for the most part and it cannot properly handle a file that isn't 4:3 to begin with.
For instance if you have a widescreen DivX/Xvid it will stretch it to fit the full frame instead of resizing it correctly.
In short DVD Movie Factory is just not the tool to use unless your DivX/Xvid is full frame to begin with (such as 640x480 etc.)

I believe Fulcilives is right it doesn't support 16:9 and many other things, hence the cheap price. Ulead Video Studio 8 does support 16:9. I'm pretty sure you can upgrade for $50.
You could look up a tool called Ifoedit, my understanding is you burn your disc to directory on your HD. Edit the DVD ifo file so that the files have the correct aspect ratio. I've never done but it can be done. -
