  1. I'm currently converting fast_and_furious(1of2).avi to a .mpg using TMPGEnc and it seems to be taking quite a while. It has been over 6 hours and it is only at 20%, saying that it still has 26 hours to go! As I am extremely new to this, I am not sure if this is way too long or what? Please advise...

Please tell us your CPU speed and if you are using any filters in TMPGEnc. Make sure you don't run anything else while encoding as it'll slow down time.

  3. yes it should usually take a long time. that does sound very long, but depending on your settings, CPU speed, and the rest of your computer it may make sense.

  4. My CPU is an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1400MHz @ 266MHz FSB with 512 MB PC2100 DDR Memory. The only "filter" I checked was the one that reduces noise because the .avi play sounded "twangy" or sort of "metallic". Well, it's been 16 hours and there's 18 to go (it's at 46%) so I guess we'll find out how it went tomorrow. By the way, I am running Windows 2000 Pro and yes, I am running other programs (how can I leave my computer for a whole day?!)

    Thanks...
