I find it annoying when I PM someone, only to gather later on that they have been banned. Is it an entirely stupid idea to include a member status in people's profiles ? IE. Compare said user's last posting date to current system date. If they have posted within the last week/fortnight, set status to regular, the last month = Dormant, the last 6 months = MIA, and so on .... also, you could set the status to banned when they have been banned.
thoughts ?

If in doubt, Google it.

Good idea Jimm
We have quite a few dormant, MIA and otherwise inactive users. A single color-coded box somewhere in the profile with..say:
Green = Active (posted within the last week)
Blue = Dormant (no posts in the last 2 months)
Black = MIA (no posts in more than 2 months)
Red = Banned
White = Noob (No posts) -
Good idea - however it's structured. Gets my vote...

You'll know they've been banned because it will have...
You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning. You are now banned.

Still, it is a good idea and I think it could be useful. -

Yeah, I suppose that's right. So, how about a "Status:" under "Location:" on the left-hand side?

No, if you have four yellows and another is issued, it automatically bans the user.
Yellows are removed after 30 days if the user PMs the mod. -
Wow - defense must've been some kind of retard to accumulate 5 yellows over such a short space of time. That'll be 5 yellows in 30 days, or thereabouts.

I think you'll find the defense didn't get the badges of shame over a 30 day period. AFAIK they are only removed after 30 days if the user PMs the mod that issued it. So if the user forgets to PM the mod, the card stays indefinitely. So the 5 cards probably built up over the years.
Excuse me Russ for paraphrasing, but I think Russ's question is: If someone's on 4 yellows, then they get their 5th (which automatically bans them), and then one month down the track PMs a mod and gets one removed, are they then unbanned (membership reinstated) ?If in doubt, Google it. -
Jimm,
I don't think so
Anyways, the mod is under no obligation to remove the yellow even if PM'ed about it. But if he's banned for 5 yellows, he's banned. Same as if he had gotten a red card. -
Basically, if a user has been obnoxious enough to accumulate five yellows, they don't deserve to be here.
