Running late for work one day (typical) One of my mens wife calls me on my cell and asks if her husband is there. I have to tell her that I ain't there yet, is there an emergency? (Not normal for wives to be calling the jobsite) She says No, just have him call when I get to work. She asks where we are working at, so I tell her. (no big deal right?) I get to work and tell the man that his ole lady called me and his phone must not be working (he blows it off, no big deal) About an hour later his wife shows up on the job. I know her face, but can't place it. She is all smiles and ask where her husband is. I figure out who she is and ask if he forgot his lunch or something. I am still thinking that a kid is hurt or some other bad news or something. So I walk her back to where he is. That is when the shit hit the fan. She says "So this is Alabama?!" (We were in Georgia, real close to home) "You have been in Alabama all week?!) She picked up another mans lunchbox/cooler and everybody slipped out of the room except for her, her husband and the kid who was saying "Please mam, thats my lunchbox" "My mama packed that lunch just for me" "Please mam don't break my lunchbox, Here use my hammer" At first we were all too embarrassed to do anything but get the hell away. After I worked up some courage I told her that she can't hurt him on the job site because OSHA would fine us and we would have to pass the cost down and take it out of his check, so take it outside.(Please mam) She was a large and proud black woman, and the only one to stand up to her was a kid trying to save his bologna and kool-aid!
