  1. i would like to ask for help to solve this problem. i have lite on 12x burner and when i convert avi or mpeg to dvd i can watch it on my standalone player toshiba sdk615. but when i copy my dvds bought in store for backup with dvd shrink it will play perfect from lite dvd burner on my pc but not on my standalone toshiba player. i searched forum and found few suggestions like the one to author dvd with nero instead of dvd shrink but it didn't work. i checked disk folders and VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders were present on a burned copy. burning process and all other things are happening without any problems, all dvds created with tmpeg enc and author from avi. mpeg, vob files play great on both pc and standalone player. problem is only with copies of original dvds. any idea how to solve this. thanks.

What happens when you try to play them ? Do you get an error message, or does nothing happen at all ?

What type of disk do you burn to ?
What do you burn with ?
What version of DVD Shrink ?

  3. it is not problem with disk model or type, same maxwell dvd+r disks work great when avi files were converted with tmpeg enc + author and burned on dvd. i can watch it on standalone player without any problems but no luck with copies of original dvd's made with dvd shrink.

i used dvd shrink 3.2 and nero 6 but the resoult is same: when i put disk in standalone dvd player after few seconds i get message on tv "disk error" and tray opens and display shows word "error".

I would suggest two things. Have you tried the discs in someone elses dvd player ? That way you will know if the problem is with your stand alone player. What model dvd player ? Maybe you have one of those that will NOT play dvd-r's !!!!

  5. i tried burned dvd's on other stanalone player and they work fine. my player is toshiba sd k615 (5 disk) and funniest thing is that dvd's work on another toshiba dvd player that is almost two times cheaper than mine. My plays dvd+r and dvd-r, i already tried it and as i said, dvd burned from avi, vob or mpeg files work fine. problem is when i copy original dvd with dvd shrink.

  6. bddp,

post the exact model of your DVD player. As cflyer
mentioned, it might be one of those that either can't
play a dvdr or need to be upgraded to play.

  8. Well just looking at videohelp's own DVD player list it seems
yours will not play DVD-R. It may play DVD-R/W .

  9. problem solved, it was recording speed issue. when i use record speed 4X it works ok. disks recorded with 8X speed can be seen on pc but not on standalone player where i get "disk error" message.
