I am trying to make a compilation video of my fav moments from my footy dvds. I have used DVD shrink to put the DVD onto my hard drive but how do I convert those files to and MPEG or AVI file so I can cut out the bits I want and eventually create my own 'highlights' reel??
All i get on my hard disk is 2 folders with DVD files and I cant open them to edit in Adobe premier or the like?
How do I go about converting those to files I can edit??

Vobrator will demux them. Many editors will open VOB files directly. If yours does, do that. If it doesn't, demux the video and audio streams with Vobrator and open the streams separately with your editor.
Then edit, save as MPEG, and author/burn as usual -

I seem to be able to get the video to an m2v file which I can open in adobe premier but the audio is an ac3 file which I cant seem to open in any program.
Is there any freeware programs that can open an ac3 file and convert it to a wav or something I can use in adobe premier?
Also when I get a separate video and audio file how do you put them together and keep the synch? I dont suppose there is any easy free program that converts vob to mpeg or avi directly in one stream? 8) -
Virtualdub-MPEG2 can open VOBs, but I don't think it can handle AC3 too well, so you'd probably have to save the change the audio to WAV.
AC3Tool works well converting AC3 to WAV also.If in doubt, Google it. -
Thanks jimmalenko
I found besweet and that converted the AC3 to a wav file for me which I can now open in adobe premier.
The problem I have now is because I have 3 video files and 1 big audio file, how do I match the video and audio to how it was on the dvd??
I am used to making dvd's comprising MPEG music clips and the audio and video are obviously in 1 file.
Trying to edit DVD files seems a little more complicated.
How do you keep the sound with the matching video? -
Any decent audio program such as goldwave should allow you to crop your audio so that it matches the length of your video. You can then multiplex audio and video back together manually, or let your authoring software do it for you. Synch can be a pain though.
I haven't needed to do a lot of VOB editing, but I would have recommended DVDShrink using it's start/stop functions in reauthor mode FWIW.If in doubt, Google it. -

I'm wanting to do the same thing but MPEG2VCR changes any PCM track to mp2. Anyone have any programs where you can edit and keep the PCM?
