  1. As I am going through the guidelines to set up DVDx properly, step 2 of the tutorial is asking me to locate a folder (VIDEO_TS) under the DVD Drive program.

    My computer has DVD/CD-RW DRIVE(E

I do not see a folder for VIDEO_TS. According to the tutorial, in order to advance to the next step I will need this folder. Is this the correct software to use to burn a movie using your CD WRITER?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello,

Look in the d: drive or whatever your drive is for the dvdrom. It should have two folders (assuming its a normal dvd) - video_ts and audio_ts.

You need to look in the video_ts folder for the vob files. If they aren't there than it isn't a normal dvd and can't be ripped using the normal procedures.

Why don't you use ctrl+prnt scrn and post a picture of your my computer (if Windows) dvd drive???

    PRESARIO (C
    PRESARIO_RP (D
    DVD/CD-RW Drive (E
    Shared Document folder
    Owner's Document folder

If I click on the DVD/CD-RW Drive, it tells me to insert a disk into the (E Drive.

    Thanks

    Hello,

If you can't get dvdx to read the disc you could use dvd decrypter to rip the vobs to your harddrive and then use file - open vobs (I think) to read them off the harddrive.

  5. Should I uninstall the DVDx, and install the Decrypter software?

    Thanks

    Hello,

No. The dvd decrypter is a seperate utility that copies the dvd files to the computer.

Then you can use dvdx to find the vob files you saved on the harddrive.

  7. Okay, I just installed the dvd decrypter. Not to sound too redundant, but what would be the next step after installation of dvd decrypter? Do I go back to DVDx and begin where I left off?

Are there any guidelines to follow so that I may finally get up and running?

    Thanks again for the assistance

    Hello,

First make sure you have at least 9gb of free space (4-8gb for the dvd and then extra room to make your vcd/svcd/divx file).

In dvd decrypter (make sure your dvd is in your dvd drive) click the disc to harddrive icon and it will rip the whole disc to your harrddrive. (you can select just the 5.1 audio and main movie only but that's a little more complex).

Then after the video_ts folder is on your harddrive then you can open it in dvdx.

  9. When I open dvd decrypter I do not see a disc to harddrive icon to click. Is it supposed to be on the front of my desktop?

    Thank you

There are a few programs that use similar acronyms like DVDx (ie dvdxcopy, dvx and dvdx 2.3)
If you are referring to the freeware DVDx, it is a program used to rip a dvd disc and save the data to mpg or avi format back to your hd. You can also frameserve the video/audio but that may be too advanced at this stage.
When you used DVDx and tried to open a video_ts folder the program expected to find a dvd disc in your drive not a blank disc to write to. At this point you are not writing a disc but trying to read one and rip the video and audio using the built-in ripper. DVDx is a one step operation and doesn't need to copy the vob files to your hd and needs less work space since it will compress to your chosen format on the fly and only needs space for your final output.
If you are trying to write a videocd or dvd that is on your hd already then you need a program like Nero to write the video to disc.

I suggest that you go to the guides section and look for a guide on how to use dvd dycripter. Most come with pretty pics so you can see what you have to do......
