Hi. I have just downloaded the AC3 plugin to use with Ulead Videostudio 8. The problem is, I am not sure at which stage to use it.
I import to DV AVI via firewire so that I have an AVI file with LPCM audio: These are the project properties...
PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 4:3, 25 fps
Lower Field First
DV Video Encoder -- type 1
DV Audio -- PAL, 32.000 kHz, 12 Bit, Stereo.
Now, when I have finished editing etc. I create a video file in the "Share" step. I have made my own template showing the following...
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
AC-3 Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
My question is this... Have I done the right thing here by making the above template or should I use "Same As project settings"? In other words, do I introduce my AC3 plugin to convert the LPCM audio at this "create Video" step or wait until I actually "create disc" to use my own template? Will it make any difference either way? After all, at some stage it will need converting to mpeg2 to make my DVD. I just need a little guidance on this to maximize what I can get on a 4.37 Gb DVD at 8000kbs (which is why I brought the AC3 plugin).
