First off, is your video card a VIVO card? A VIVO card will come with a dongle connector that has something that looks a lot like an s-video connector at one end, and into that end feeds four other connectors, 2 composite video and 2 s-video.

If you card does not have this, you cannot capture analog video, plain and simple, but see below.

If is does, go to the tools section and download virtualdub and the huffyuv codec. Follow the capture guides for virtualdub, and the guides for converting and authoring. Use the dongle to connect your input source to your graphics card. You'll capture the audio using your sound card, so connect the audio to your sound card's stereo input.

If your footage is from a DV camcorder, you can capture it digitally by using the camcorder's firewire or USB port. This is the preferred method for capturing from a DV camcorder. You'll need a firewire card or a USB port in your computer (the graphics card and sound card are not needed in these cases). Look for guides on this site on how to do this kind of capture.

All this stuff in non-trivial, but it ain't that difficult either. All that is required is the right hardware, software and lots of patients. Good Luck.
